Fort Gordon on post housing is privatized and operated by Balfour Beatty Communities. Fort Gordon Family Housing (706) 772-7041 offers five neighborhoods of 2-5 bedroom single family homes. Home amenities include: regular utilities, lawn care, trash service, pest control, washer & dryer hookups and central air. The community amenities offer tennis courts, playgrounds, tot lots & basketball courts.

Augusta is more commonly referred to as the Augusta-Richmond area, a consolidation of the city and county into one region, and has the second largest population of any metro area in Georgia, behind Atlanta, with nearly 200,000 residents.
